Glass

Fabrication of glass has reached new heights, which has made it quite affordable and easier to concoct new designs. The glass can be of many types, from clear glass, frosted glass, wire glass or reflective glass. Although the manufacturing processes of these glasses vary, their efficiency and quality remain top notch. Glass doors and panels can add a new texture to the living space/ office and can help flood the space with natural lighting, while keeping natural elements out.

  • Clear Glass- Most people are familiar with the clear colourless glass. The glass comes with a blue or green edge, depending on the iron content in the glass. It allows up to 90% of the light to pass through it and reflects about 8% of the incident light. The thickness of the glass varies from 3/32” to 3/4” inches, based on the uses.
  • Frosted Glass- Sandblasting or acid etching clear glass gives it a unique frosted look, hence the term Frosted Glass. This technique turns the glass translucent, giving it a beautiful while shade, while retaining the ability to pass light. Selective frosting of clear glass can help give it a patterned look. Frosted glass comes in handy when you are looking to retain privacy, without compromising on the light passing into the room.
  • Wire Glass- The wire glass has wire embedded in the glass, providing it extra structural strength. This is mainly used as fire safe glass since it does not shatter easily on impact or excessive heat. This helps keep the residents safe from smoke and fire in case of a fire break out.
  • Reflective Glass- The reflective glass has a unique look to it, thanks to the thin metal oxide layer applied to the surface of the glass. The reflective layer helps deflect heat from the glass, while allowing light to pass through it. This helps keep the room at an ambient temperature, which helps reduce the use of heating and cooling systems within the room.
